Sunday Message: Only Jesus!

In this Sunday morning episode, Pastor Greg Laurie takes us through Mark 9 as we look at the story of the Transfiguration from the disciples’ perspective—as they catch a glimpse of the glory of Jesus. As Pastor Greg explains, the true miracle in this story isn’t what you think it might be, and the lesson of the story is crucial to understand.

“Only Jesus!” is the latest message in our series, The Gospel for Busy People.

Notes

Read: Mark 9:1–10

The transfiguration was a significant point in Jesus’ life and ministry.

The Bible teaches there will be a bodily resurrection; our body, our personality, everything we were will live again!

“And they were speaking about his exodus from this world, which was about to be fulfilled in Jerusalem.” —Luke 9:31

“Only Jesus.”

It’s Jesus only who can save and keep us.

Friends come and go . . . Jesus comes and stays!

Read: Mark 9:20–24

“Anything is possible if a person believes.” —Mark 9:23

It’s not more mountaintop experiences we need in our Christian life . . . it’s more day to day obedience, walking by faith, not by feeling.

We say we want to be holy, yet we tolerate sin on a daily basis, comfortable with its permeating presence in our homes, our relationships—our very lives. And while we view murder, lust, and lying as unbearably wicked, we trivialize gossip, gluttony, and envy. In the series White Collar Sins: Death in Its Sunday Best, Pastor Skip Heitzig challenges us to view all sin as destructive and recognize its painful consequences.
