The Significance of Thorns in the Bible | The Holy Land

Genesis 3:18 is a key verse that mentions thorns as a consequence of Adam and Eve’s sin, and thus the sin of the whole world. Speaking of how people would have to toil to survive, it says: “[The ground] will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.” Another significant place where thorns are highlighted is in Matthew 27:29 where our Savior is forced to wear a crown of thorns while being mocked by the very people He’s dying to save. Thorns speak volumes about sin, pain, and the price for peace.
