The story of bread in the Bible tells the story of the gospel. Beginning with Abram, God used bread as a symbol of His redemption—of making things right. Bread later became a symbol of God’s provision and protection and of worship and sacrifice. And ultimately, Jesus fulfilled the symbolic message of bread in the Bible by taking on the bread curse and letting His body be broken for the redemption of the world. He is the “bread of life” that brings hope even in the midst of famine.
